Into A Book

My sister, my father and me. My bedroom window was upstairs on the left.

When I was about five,

I thought after death, you

went into the nearest book.

My mother must have been reading

us Little House in the Big Woods

because that’s the book I made sure

was nearby at night. Just in case.

    1. I don’t think so either. Once you slipped into a kindle, who knows where you might end up. Maybe even in one of those horrible suggestions they have. And now that I think about it, my kindle is in the drawer next to the bed. I better get a good book in there. Just in case.
